Alan L Marks Building Services and ADCO Constructions have taken out the major awards at this year’s Master Builders Gold Coast Housing & Construction Awards, held on July 29 at the RACV Royal Pines Resort, Gold Coast.

Alan L Marks Building Services received the 2017 Gold Coast House of the Year, while the 2017 Gold Coast Project of the Year went to ADCO Constructions.

Stroud Homes Gold Coast’s work netted them the 2017 Gold Coast President’s Award.

Master Builders’ CEO, Grant Galvin, congratulated all 53 winners.

“The standard we have seen this year is incredible and demonstrates the impeccable talent and expertise of our industry,” Mr Galvin said.

“The Housing & Construction Awards provide an opportunity to recognise this talent, and it is great that after 30 years, they continue to be sought-after by the state’s top builders and tradespeople.”

A grand design

Winner of the 2017 Gold Coast House of the Year – Alan L Marks Building Services

The owners had a specific vision for this grand design – to create a home that is new in style and that others will use as a benchmark. The “wow” factors include a pool on the roof, landscaped gardens, and a basement carpark for 14 cars – all set over three levels to capture the views. Post tension slabs were used so that no columns were needed in the basement, this also allowed for the multi levels and curved walls throughout the house. Each bedroom has been individually themed, and every possible use of space has been formed into functional areas such as the gift-wrapping room under the curved upper stairs. Throughout the 18-month journey, the owners and builder became a “working team” that created a home that is warm, user-friendly, and unique. It simply left our judges speechless.

Foodie paradise

Winner of the 2017 Gold Coast Project of the Year – ADCO Constructions

There is a saying – “build it and they will come,” which is exactly what happened with design of “The Kitchens” at Robina Town Centre Market Hall. Forty-five food retail outlets were fitted out – from the kitchens to the dining areas. The intricate network of services required complex coordination across all disciplines, using BIM technology, and a practical coordinated approach throughout the project. The result is a kaleidoscope for the senses and one that left the judges in awe of the quality and complexity in construction. Please congratulate the entire team from ADCO Constructions as the deserved winners of the 2017 Gold Coast Project of the Year.

Good value

Winner of the 2017 Gold Coast President’s Award – Stroud Homes Gold Coast

A key aspect in the judge’s selection criteria for this award was not just to exceed in design practicalities, but also in value for money – and Stroud Homes Gold Coast delivered in all areas. The Bronte 240 has a striking façade, with spacious ensuite and a “his” and “hers” walk-in robe to the master bedroom. The judges were impressed by the use of space and the children’s study nook. Complete with media room and a butler’s pantry, the Bronte 240 ticks all the boxes for a small family home.
