Spotlight shines on the Sunshine Coast's best builders in 2017

Kernohan Construction and Lend Lease have taken out the major awards at this year’s Master Builders Sunshine Coast Housing & Construction Awards, held on August 4 at Lake Kawana Community Centre, Sunshine Coast.

Kernohan Construction received the 2017 Sunshine Coast House of the Year, and also won the 2017 Sunshine Coast Best Residential Swimming Pool and 2017 Sunshine Coast Individual Home $1.26 million - $2 million. 

The 2017 Sunshine Coast Project of the Year went to Lend Lease for the Sunshine Coast University Hospital. Lend Lease also won the 2017 Sunshine Coast Health Facilities over $20 million.

PJ Burns’ work netted them the 2017 Sunshine Coast President’s Award, as well as the 2017 Sunshine Coast Individual Home $251,000 - $350,000, and the 2017 Sunshine Coast Individual Home $551,000 - $650,000. 

Master Builders’ CEO, Grant Galvin, congratulated all 46 winners.

“The standard we have seen this year is incredible and demonstrates the impeccable talent and expertise of our industry,” Mr Galvin said.

“The Housing & Construction Awards provide an opportunity to recognise this talent, and it is great that after 30 years, they continue to be sought-after by the state’s top builders and tradespeople.”

Beach paradise

The construction of the $1.8 billion Sunshine Coast Hospital has had a positive effect on the Sunshine Coast. The main hospital comprises 150,000 square metres of floor space.

In addition to the hospital, Lend Lease also completed the Sunshine Coast Health Institute, the mental health facility, two multi-level car parks, parklands and the supporting infrastructure.
