Thomsen Builders and Hutchinson Builders have taken out the major awards at this year’s Master Builders Wide Bay Burnett’s Housing & Construction Awards, held on August 05 at the Beach House Hotel, Hervey Bay.
Thomsen Builders received the 2017 Wide Bay Burnett House of the Year, and also picked up the 2017 Wide Bay Burnett Individual Home $651,000-$750,000. The 2017 Wide Bay Burnett Project of the Year went to Hutchinson Builders, as did the award for 2017 Wide Bay Burnett Retail Facilities.
Saaroq’s work netted them the 2017 Wide Bay Burnett President’s Award for the Wildflower 190 Alpine Display home.
Master Builders’ CEO, Grant Galvin, congratulated all 31 winners.
“The standard we have seen this year is incredible and demonstrates the impeccable talent and expertise of our industry,” Mr Galvin said.
“The Housing & Construction Awards provide an opportunity to recognise this talent, and it is great that after 30 years, they continue to be sought-after by the state’s top builders and tradespeople.”

This home was built as a family holiday home and to take advantage of the uninterrupted views across the water to Fraser Island.
Designed to fit in with the existing beach shack style of the area, but with a more contemporary touch, the home is run entirely off the grid and even has its own waste water treatment plant.
The house features a multitude of energy saving ideas and eye-catching features such as a fireplace in the living area, timber decks and floors, and marble feature tiles.

Hutchinson Builders were tasked with designing and constructing the Maryborough Food Warehouse.
The existing supermarket was built in the 1970s, with extremely limited data available, making the preliminary investigation crucial to the project’s success and allowing it to be completed on time and on budget.
Custom-made Australian joinery and fit-out items were installed, along with new insulation, cold rooms, bakery equipment, and mechanical and electrical services.

The Wildflower 190 Alpine is the ideal size for first home buyers and small families. The design allows the living and alfresco areas to overlook a pool with a resort feel accentuated by pillarless external glass sliding doors that creates a central hub and makes the home feel spacious.
The real surprise of this home is the spacious master bedroom which boasts a double vanity, large shower and separate toilet with walk-in-robe.
