Our CPC60220 – Advanced Diploma of Building and Construction (Management) program is comprised of ten units based on the issues we know are important in the building and construction sector today. Upon successful completion of all ten units of competency, along with evidence of industry experience, you may apply for a Builder Open Licence with QBCC.

The course requires demonstration of the management and planning of the building process so students must have access to a construction worksite.

CSQ provides funding to reduce the financial obstacle to training, making upskilling an affordable option for many more individuals in the construction industry. *CSQ funds to a maximum of $446.50 per unit for this course (subject to funding availability and eligibility criteria).

Face-to-face eligibility  

To enrol students must:

  • Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years building and construction industry specific experience in commercial construction work (over three stories) or completion of a Diploma of Building and Construction (Building) qualification or hold a current Medium rise licence
  • Have a solid level of operational knowledge and skill at a Diploma level
  • Demonstrate a satisfactory level of Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills
  • Have access to internet and email
  • Have access to a construction worksite
  • Have a modern laptop (preferably Windows based) with Microsoft programs, Google Chrome and Adobe Reader, that can be used throughout the course duration for class work and assessments
  • You will need access to a building and construction site as you will be required to demonstrate the management and planning of components of the building process, record them, and get the required sign-off by a qualified person for the project/s.

RPL eligibility

For RPL, prior to enrolment, candidates must be:

  • Demonstrate and provide relevant evidence of at least four years experience on-site supervising all trades with a licensed builder in open building projects
  • Demonstrate a sufficient level of Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills
  • Have access to internet and email
  • Have a modern laptop (preferably Windows based) with Microsoft programs and Adobe Reader, that can be used throughout the course duration.

  1. CPCCBC6018 - Manage processes for complying with legal obligations of a building or construction contractor
  2. CPCCBC6001 - Apply building codes and standards to the construction process for large building projects
  3. CPCCBC6014 - Apply structural principles to the construction of large, high rise and complex buildings
  4. CPCCBC6016 - Assess construction faults in large building projects.
Face-to-face eligibility

To enrol students must have relevant current* construction industry knowledge, skills, and experience as a site supervisor/builder of Open Complex building projects, specifically in Type A construction.
