RE: Concerned regarding cost increases and unnecessary red tape during this housing crisis Dear [MP name], I am concerned about the housing crisis currently facing Queensland. I believe the government needs to do more to fix it, including rolling back of red tape, to help clear the way for the building industry to deliver more housing, sooner and more affordably. I want the government to work with industry to drive down the cost of building, instead of increasing it. I support initiatives such as rolling back the unwarranted changes to the National Construction Code (NCC) 2022, where the added cost to housing outweighs any potential benefit; scrapping Project Trust Accounts, which aren’t helping subcontractors receive payment when businesses are made insolvent; working to make Best Practice Industry Conditions (BPICs) more flexible, without compromising worker safety or building quality; making the QBCC work better for and with industry and a state-wide mandatory housing code that will help to streamline planning rules and speed things up at a local government level. I ask you to raise your concerns in the Queensland Parliament, Minister Scanlon and the Premier. People are struggling – and now is not the time to increase the cost of housing. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to hearing your response. Yours sincerely
