The Subcontractors’ Charges Act 1974 (SCA) was repealed on 17 December 2018 and replaced by Chapter 4 of the Building Industry Fairness (Security of Payment) Act 2017. SCA now only applies to subcontractor’s charges that were given under the SCA prior to 17 December 2018 that have not ended or otherwise been extinguished as of 17 December 2018.
If you need assistance or are confused about whether the SCA applies to a payment claim, give us a call and we can talk you through it.
Information on the requirements of its replacement, can be found here under Chapter 4 of the Building Industry Fairness (Security of Payment) Act 2017.
