Sue-Ann Fresneda will take the lead as Master Builders Queensland’s new CEO, building on the solid foundations laid by outgoing CEO Paul Bidwell.

Following more than 13 years with the association – four of those as Deputy CEO – Sue-Ann said she was energised by the organisation’s future and excited to step into the position at such a pivotal moment.

“I’m proud to take on the CEO role at such an important time for our industry. While we are facing some tough challenges, there’s also a real sense of opportunity ahead," she said.

"We’re already building momentum and I’m looking forward to working with members to ensure our association continues to be a strong, practical voice for the industry.”

Joining the Master Builders team in 2013, Sue-Ann has driven the commercial success of the association in what she describes as a “profit for purpose” model, where strong commercial success allows the business to strategically invest in the right mix of products and services for members.

She brings her experience having supported the Board, Executive Leadership Team and members through an incredible decade, with the industry facing pressures such as the COVID-19 pandemic, and the resulting cost hikes and labour and material shortages.

Sue-Ann has a keen understanding of the current workforce shortage crisis. Her work in this space was cemented with a position on the Construction Skills Queensland Board from 2018, and in 2025 taking on the role of Board Chair.

Master Builders President, Chris Taylor said that following a robust recruitment process, the Board was unanimous in its decision that Sue-Ann was the right leader for Master Builders.

“Her dedication to members, strong industry knowledge, and outstanding leadership skills made her the clear choice and we are confident Master Builders will continue to go from strength to strength with Sue-Ann as our new CEO," said Chris.

Sue-Ann will be capably supported by Michael Hopkins, who will step up from his role as Executive Manager – Advocacy & Member Services into the Deputy CEO role.
