A dramatic riverfront residence that belies the complexity of its construction achieved an exceptional six wins across multiple categories at the 2026 Master Builders Sunshine Coast Housing & Construction Awards. The red carpet was rolled out for a glamorous crowd at Novotel Twin Waters on Friday 21 August.
Tyson Building Group was honoured with the prestigious Sunshine Mitre 10 House of the Year Award for Mooloolaba masterpiece, Azura. Defined by a sweeping roofline, curved built forms and a seamless connection with the water’s edge, the three-level home features a sculptural curved staircase at its heart, a passenger lift, and a basement constructed around 1.8 metres below high tide level, featuring a car lift, gym, and cellar. Superior craftsmanship also earned Tyson Building Group a rare clean sweep of the Specialty categories – Best Residential Bathroom, Best Residential Kitchen, and Best Residential Swimming Pool – plus, best Individual Home over $10 million.
After spending the best part of two years working with the Tyson team and their clients on a shared vision for Azura, Wyer & Craw won the Residential Trade Contractor of the Year Award, applauded for their seamless curation and integration of hand-selected American Walnut timber joinery, Cristallo Quartzite stone and brass elements throughout the home, creating a unified, high-end finish.
St Andrews Constructions took home the coveted BUSSQ Building Super President’s Award for stunning modern Noosa Heads home, BABYLON. The team mastered below water-level construction and torrential rain and carefully planned every detail to ensure seamless finishes and durability. The canal-front position and luxurious pool, spa and kitchen cool room make the home an entertainer’s paradise, with the wine cellar and media room ‘The Ark’ – likened to an underground New York jazz bar – completing the dream. A family business, St Andrews Constructions also celebrated their own Niamh Johnstone winning the Women in Building Award. The judges were impressed by Niamh’s exceptional knowledge and work as young project manager on multiple high-end builds – and her passion for mentoring others.

With stunning views over Pumicestone Passage, RCQ’s builder-developer approach ensured the 27 premium residences and five retail tenancies were delivered to an impeccable standard, making for an enviable lifestyle.
Reed & Co Homes also had two reasons to celebrate. Founder Damian Reed received the Xact Accounting Rising Star Award, having established a reputation for exceptional craftsmanship, attention to detail, and innovation in delivering high-end architectural homes, while the team won best Individual Home from $600,000 up to $750,000 for Pelican Waters beauty, Cato Residence.
The future looks bright for The Industry School Apprentice of the Year Award winner Oliver Cassells from Becker Constructions, applauded for his ability to work independently, solve complex construction challenges, and contribute to team outcomes, displaying maturity beyond his years. Ollie and the Becker team were also awarded best Home Renovation Project from $1 million up to $2 million for the breathtaking Moffat Beach transformation, Derby.
“I am incredibly grateful to be part of such an extraordinary industry here on the Sunshine Coast,” Master Builders Regional Manager, Nicola Scott, said.
“This event is about so much more than awards. It's about recognising the people behind the projects – the visionaries, the craftspeople, the problem-solvers and the teams whose passion and dedication transform ideas on a page into places where lives are lived, families grow, businesses thrive, and communities are strengthened.
“Whether it's a family home, a commercial development, a school, a hospital or a public space, every project leaves an incredible legacy. Congratulations to all our entrants and winners.”
