Master Builders' residential Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs). They offer builders and trade contractors a practical way to plan, inspect, document and verify construction work throughout a project.
You could be a builder managing many trades, or a subcontractor carrying out specialist work. Our ITPs will help you ensure work is completed in line with:
Approved plans
Specifications
National Construction Code (NCC)
Australian Standards, and
Manufacturer requirements.
By creating a clear record of inspections, testing and approvals, ITPs can:
Help reduce defects
Improve quality outcomes, and
Support compliance with Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) requirements.
Download our ITPs below. You must be logged in as a member to access the documents.
An Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) is a quality assurance document used during construction to identify critical stages of work that must be inspected, tested and verified before the next stage can proceed.
ITPs provide documented evidence of:
What work was inspected
When inspections or tests were completed
Who conducted the inspection
Whether the work met the required standard, and
Supporting evidence used to verify compliance.
Using ITPs creates a consistent and traceable record of construction activities, helping builders and subcontractors demonstrate that work has been completed correctly.
Implementing ITPs can help you:
Improve construction quality
Identify defects and non-compliant work early, before they become costly rectification issues.
Support QBCC Compliance
Maintain clear records that demonstrate inspections, testing and quality control processes have been completed.
Reduce risk and disputes
Create documented evidence that work was carried out in accordance with approved requirements.
Strengthen project documentation
Keep inspection records, approvals, photographs and supporting documentation organised throughout the project lifecycle
Increase accountability, and
Clearly record responsibilities and sign-off requirements for builders, supervisors and subcontractors.
Our ITP suite includes forms for:
Driveways and footpaths
Energy efficiency
Footings and slabs
Internal waterproofing
Roofing
Tiling, and
Timber framing.
Each ITP identifies the relevant inspection points, testing requirements and industry references applicable to that stage of construction.
Step 1: Select the relevant ITP
Choose the Inspection Test Plan that aligns with the scope of work being undertaken.
Step 2: Issue the ITP to your subcontractor
Provide the relevant ITP before the work commences or at the designated inspection stage.
Step 3: Review supporting evidence
Request supporting documentation such as:
Site photographs
Supplier certifications
Test results
Approved forms and notices
Email approvals or acceptance records
Step 4: Verify compliance
Confirm the works have been completed in accordance with the project specifications and applicable standards.
Step 5: Maintain project records
File completed ITPs as part of your quality management and project documentation process.
Even if a builder has not requested an ITP, trade contractors are encouraged to proactively complete and submit the relevant ITP.
Before starting work
Review the inspection requirements and applicable standards detailed in the ITP.
During construction
Document inspections and testing as work progresses. Collect evidence including photos, approvals and compliance documentation.
Upon completion
Complete the required declarations, sign the form and return it to the builder together with any supporting records.
Maintaining accurate inspection records can help demonstrate compliance, support professional accountability and protect your business if workmanship is later questioned.
Each ITP allows users to record:
Inspection and testing stages
Relevant standards and specifications
Inspection outcomes
Supporting evidence
Compliance status
Corrective actions (if required), and
Subcontractor or supervisor sign-off.
This creates a complete record of quality assurance activities throughout the construction process.
ITPs are a practical tool for builders and subcontractors looking to improve construction quality, strengthen compliance practices and maintain reliable project records.
By embedding ITPs into your construction process, you can help reduce defects, improve accountability and create clear evidence that work has been completed to the required standard.
