If you’re a builder or trade contractor planning a domestic building project (building or renovating) valued over $16,000 in Victoria, you’re legally required to purchase Domestic Building Insurance (DBI) on behalf of the homeowner. To obtain DBI, you must first hold eligibility with the Building and Plumbing Commission (BPC). You can apply for this eligibility through our Master Builders Insurance Services team.

Need cover?

First, you need current Eligibility approval from Building and Plumbing Commission (BPC). Use the BPC Eligibility Application Form first if you need new Eligibility, or to change your profile. Read more details about the assessment.

Once you’ve received Eligibility approval confirmation from BPC, you can use our Project Application Forms further down on this page to apply for job specific cover.

VIC Policy Wording

Victorian Domestic Building Insurance (DBI) covers the Homeowner in the event the Builder or Contractor dies, disappears, becomes insolvent.
