New South Wales (NSW) Home Building Compensation is managed by icare HBCF (Home Building Compensation Fund).
Need cover?
First, you need current Eligibility approval from icare HBCF. Visit the icare HBCF website, create an account and submit your application via their direct Builder portal.
Once you’ve received Eligibility approval confirmation from icare HBCF, you can submit applications for job specific cover within the same icare HBCF Builder Portal .
If you already hold HBC Eligibility, with effect from 1 September 2026 you will need to use the icare HBCF Builder Portal for all new job specific applications or eligibility reviews

NSW Policy Wording
NSW Home Building Compensation Fund (Home Warranty Insurance) covers the Homeowner in the event the Builder or Contractor dies, disappears, becomes insolvent, or has a non-compliant NCAT or Court money order which results in their building license being suspended.
