Construction Skills Queensland Small Business Course Funding

Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) is an independent, industry-funded body supporting employers, workers, apprentices and career seekers in the building and construction industry.

Funding opportunities, in partnership with Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ), are available statewide from time to time, and will be allocated on a first in, best dressed basis, subject to CSQ’s eligibility criteria.

Schedule 3 - Participant eligibility:

For the purposes of eligibility, Participants under this Agreement must meet the following criteria:

1. Eligible Participant means:
(a) An owner of an Eligible Building and Construction Small Business; or
(b) an employee of an Eligible Building and Construction Small Business who is directly involved in the administrative day to day running of the business.

AND MUST BE:
(c) an Australian or New Zealand citizen; or
(d) a permanent resident of Australia; or
(e) a refugee and humanitarian visa holder.

AND MUST:
(f) permanently reside in Queensland; or
(g) be permanently employed in Queensland.

Eligible Building and Construction Small Business means a business with 20 or less employees that conducts building and construction work in the Queensland Building and Construction Industry and is based in Queensland.

Building and Construction Industry has the same meaning as the Building and Construction Industry (Portable Long Services Leave) Act 1991 (Qld) as amended from time to time.

2.  NON eligible Participant under this Agreement are:
(a) an Employee of any Authority (excluding employees of an Indigenous Council that is a Principal Contractor);
(b) currently enrolled and participating in a Queensland secondary school program;
(c) a contracted trainer or assessor or existing worker of an RTO;
(d) previously funded under this Program in the same Contract Term;
(e) funded by an Authority or such other source for delivery of the same Training being undertaken as part of this Program; or
(f) other individuals that do not meet Participant Eligibility as prescribed in Item 1 of Schedule 3.

CSQ Funding Evidence

In order to be eligible for funding you will be required to provide the below.

Citizen and residency - must be one (1) of the following:

  • Birth certificate or birth certificate extract ; or
  • Australian or New Zealand passport or permanency, refugee or humanitarian visa; or
  • Medicare card (green only) – must be in a clear & coloured copy

Full name and current address - must be one (1) of the following:

  • Current QLD driver’s licence (front and back) – must be in a clear & coloured copy; or
  • Current telephone account - or - bank statement - or - statement from real estate; or
  • Any other formal document showing full name and current residential address

Employment - must be (1) or combination of the following:

Self-employed:

  • Current QLeave membership statement (example statement); or
  • Copy of invoices detailing work undertaken for a client (must show business name, street address and ABN) (minimum of two invoices - cannot be for maintenance or minor works, must be invoices for work in excess of $3,000); or
  • Statutory Declaration – signed by a Justice of Peace or Commissioner of Declaration (includes name of business, job title, ABN, length of service and details of duties - example self-employed Statutory Declaration).

Employee:

  • Current QLeave membership statement (example statement); or
  • Copy of most recent pay slips (must state job title, name of employer and length of service); or
  • Employer letter - must be on company letterhead including ABN and signatory of employer producing the letter (must state job title, length of service and details of duties - example letter); or
  • Statutory declaration (must state job title, name of employer and length of service and details of duties - example employee Statutory Declaration).

Completion of CSQ Small Business form and declaration

Student must complete the CSQ Small Business form within their online enrolment. This must declare the student is a small business owner or employee of a building and construction business, and directly involved in the administrative day-to-day running of the business. A small business is defined as less than 20 employees in the building and construction industry.
