After almost 17 years at Master Builders Queensland, Paul Bidwell has announced his resignation and decision to hang up the tool belt on his role as CEO.
Following many years as Director Housing Policy and then Deputy CEO, Paul stepped into the CEO position in 2022, guiding the association through some of the most challenging and unprecedented conditions of the post-Covid era.
He faced the perfect storm of trade shortages, escalating material costs, a deepening housing crisis and the most ambitious housing targets the industry has ever seen.
He departs at a time when he can proudly point to significant advocacy achievements on behalf of members, many of which he personally led.
Master Builders President, Chris Taylor thanked Paul for his contribution, noting he has driven the association’s advocacy agenda and achieved many key wins throughout his career, particularly since the new government took office in late 2024.
“His unwavering commitment to advancing the best interests of the industry has delivered tangible results and cemented years of hard work.
“His passion for the sector is evident in everything he does, and throughout his nearly 17 years with us he has consistently put members first.
“His leadership has strengthened our value proposition and positioned us strongly for future growth.”
Paul said it had been a privilege to belong to the Master Builders family for so many years, culminating in his role as CEO since 2022.
“I have worked with a talented and dedicated team who always put members at the centre of everything we do. I’m incredibly proud of what we have achieved together.”
He will continue in his current role for the next three months to support a smooth transition while the Board conducts an executive search. He remains committed to delivering outcomes for members and the industry throughout the transition period.
