Queensland builders redefine excellence at 2022 Awards

15 October 2022

A three-level waterfront home, luxury city residential towers and a modern golf course family residence scored top marks at the 2022 Master Builders Queensland Housing & Construction Awards.

The state’s most bold and brilliant builders were celebrated at a glittering black-tie event, held in the Plaza Ballroom, Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on Saturday, 15 October.

As always, the calibre of entries brought by this year’s field was remarkable, overcoming the challenges hampering the industry. The judging panel was impressed with the level of entries, their stunning finishes, and the degree of difficulty in construction.

Multiplex Constructions’ dazzling The One project once again triumphed, winning three awards including the coveted title of BCA Certifiers Project of the Year.

The third edition to the Brisbane Quarter project, The One residence is a breathtaking addition to the city skyline.

From the palatial foyer to polished finishes, every detail has been considered and carefully designed to epitomize everyday living. The opulent apartments offer a world-class residential structure in Brisbane's newest and most innovative precinct.

The 83-storey tower addition to the 300 George Street development won the DWF Excellence in Workplace Health & Safety Award and snapped up the best Residential Building (high-rise over 3 storeys) over $20 million.

Our judges acknowledged it was a difficult job for Multiplex Constructions as they had to collaborate with several stakeholders due to the tower's height.

Braeden Constructions’ beautiful Modern Thai House project gained the gold gong, winning the Colorbond House of the Year title.

Located in the serene waterfront location of Noosa Heads, the Modern Thai House exudes contemporary style. Designed to open up completely for an indoor-outdoor living feel, the home is an entertainer’s dream.

Hutchinson Builders cleaned up on the night, taking home a slew of awards, including best Commercial Building over $50 million for the Midtown Centre commercial tower in Brisbane and Tourism and Leisure Facilities up to $10 million for the MYAC Eco-Tourism Early Works in Far North Queensland.

Ash Moseley Homes also won big for their modern, contemporary Cairns home, winning Individual Home from $1.25 million and Best use of Sloping Sites for the beautiful Oceanview project.

Master Builders CEO Paul Bidwell congratulated the winners across all 57 categories.

“From stylish renovations and beautiful new homes to state-of-the-art hospitals, sports hubs, pubs and eco-tourism facilities, and soaring residential towers inspiring the imagination — there’s nothing Master Builders can’t accomplish,” he said.

“The efforts from promising apprentices, women leading the way in the industry, and builders showing their commitment to the future ahead, is also something we are always excited to celebrate.

“Whether a winner or not, their craftsmanship is a credit to the Master Builders name, and each of them is a part of our family. We pride ourselves on always having their back, whether that means being there in times of need, or celebrating their achievements.

“It’s our members’ drive, skill and determination on redefining excellence that is helping to ensure our continued success and viability in both the residential and commercial sectors, now and into the future.”
