2022 wage announcement

24 June 2022

The Fair Work Commission Wage Panel awarded an increase of $40.00 per week (or 5.2%) taking the National Minimum wage to $812.60 per week or $21.38 per hour.

The Panel also increased modern award minimum wages by 4.6 per cent subject to a minimum increase for adult award classifications of $40 per week. The $40 per week increase is based on a 38-hour week for a full-time employee.

In effect, modern award minimum wage rates above $869.60 per week receive a 4.6 per cent adjustment, wage rates below $869.60 per week are adjusted by $40 per week.

In most modern awards the effect of the Panel’s decision will be that the 4.6 per cent adjustment will cut in around the C10, or trade level, and the flat $40 increase will apply to the lower classifications.

Most allowances will also increase 1 July 2022. Allowances increase by relevant CPI categories and so increase amounts vary across allowance types and Awards.

New 2022 wage circulars are now available.
