COVID-19 update: 30 September 2021

30 September 2021

The mask mandate has been extended to Townsville, Palm Island and Logan LGAs, with six LGAs to follow stage 2 restrictions. Here are all the details you need on how it impacts the building and construction industry.

MASKS

If you are in Brisbane, Moreton Bay, Gold Coast, Logan City, Townsville (including Magnetic Island) and Palm Island LGAs, face masks must now be worn at all times indoors, and outdoors (if you can’t socially distance) – when it’s safe to do so. You must carry a face mask with you at all times whenever you leave your home, unless you have a lawful reason not to.

Do I need to wear a face mask on a construction site?

If you’re on a construction site, you’ll need to wear a mask at all times if working indoors (if it’s safe to do so), and outdoors if you can’t socially distance. The construction industry has remained open due to their successful adoption of COVID-safe practices and wearing a mask wherever possible is an essential part of this.

For more information, including mask exemptions, head to the Queensland Health website.

BUILDING & CONSTRUCTION REMAINS OPEN

These LGAs are also returning generally to Stage 2 restrictions; however, these don’t generally impact or restrict building and construction work; however, we recommend members do the following:

  • Ensure your COVID-19 plan is up-to-date
  • Implement hygiene measures – hand wash, sanitiser, and cleaning protocols
  • Ensure social distancing measures are in place and enforced
  • Limit numbers of people doing tasks to only those necessary
  • Schedule work so that numbers of people in the same place are limited, where possible.

We remain open for business and as always, are here to answer any questions you might have, so please feel free to call us on 1300 30 50 10.
