WorkCover recently advised that premiums are rising from 1 July 2022.
While a rise in premiums is understandably not welcome news, WorkCover have said that they are experiencing the pressure of rising claims costs, explaining that: “[o]ur strong financial position has allowed us to subsidise premium rates for Queensland business by $1.2 billion over the past six years. To not take any action this year on premium rates would be irresponsible and could risk the quality of services delivered.”
WorkCover Industry Classifications
Below are the relevant WorkCover Industry Classifications (WIC). The amount you pay may differ depending on your wages costs and claims history.
What you need to do?
You should review and adjust your charge out and loaded rates as required and ensure you are adding any premium increases into future wage costings.
