Mask up + Brisbane EKKA public holiday rescheduled + NSW border clarification

MASK UP!

We’ve fielded a lot of questions about masks and when they are needed on construction sites. The message from the Queensland Government is really clear: wear a mask at all times, unless it’s not safe to do so. Keeping our industry open and essential depends on it – so we’re asking everyone to do their bit. Of course, if your safety is at risk, you can take the mask off. But please, put it back on when safe to do so.

BRISBANE EKKA HOLIDAY RESCHEDULED

With the EKKA event cancelled this year, the Queensland Government has announced today that the official public holiday will be rescheduled (date yet to be confirmed). While the legislation is yet to be passed, watch this space.

In the meantime, if you need HR or employment advice, give our team a call on 1300 30 50 10.

NSW BORDER CLOSURES

If you’re a Queensland resident crossing the border to work in NSW, you can still complete a NSW entry declaration and cross the border for work purposes in the border zone. The NSW Government has developed some handy information for interstate travellers which outlines your obligations.

If you have visited one of Queensland's close contact venues, as listed in the Service NSW's COVID-19 concerns notice (these are the close and casual contact venues listed on the Queensland Health website), you will be unable to complete a NSW border declaration and enter the state for work purposes. However, if you have visited one of these close contact venues, you should be following Queensland Health restrictions and remaining at home, as per their instructions.

Read our updates from 2 August and 3 August for extra advice for members, advice on the NSW border closure, FAQs, the support available and other general information about the lockdown.
