Are you asbestos aware?
Our Asbestos Awareness training course is for anyone in the building and construction sector who is likely to work with asbestos.
Asbestos is a naturally occurring, fibrous silicate material that was widely used in building products between the 1940s and late 1980s due to its heat resistance, durability, and insulating properties. There are two types of asbestos, friable and non-friable asbestos. Prolonged inhalation of asbestos fibres can lead to serious health risks including lung diseases such as asbestosis, lung cancer, and mesothelioma.
Due to these health concerns, disturbing and/or removing asbestos containing materials is heavily regulated.
If you or your employees are likely to come in contact with asbestos, register them in an upcoming Asbestos Awareness course date today.
Why enrol?
A licence isn't required to remove non-friable asbestos material of less than 10m2. However, Work Health and Safety legislation requires workers to be trained and informed in asbestos identification, safe handling and controls measures when performing any asbestos removal work.
This course has been designed to provide participants with information that enables them to understand the legal obligations of licensed contractors removing non-friable asbestos in a safe manner.
Note: If you need to remove more than 10m², you are required by Workplace Health & Safety Queensland to undertake further training by completing (CPCCDE3014 – Remove non-friable asbestos).
